Having all your files with you all the time is part of what makes Dropbox so useful, both personally and professionally. Need to review your notes one more time in a client’s lobby? Or show off some family photos at Grandma’s birthday party? No problem. Just pull up your Dropbox, and we have you covered — whether you’re using a Mac, PC, smartphone, or tablet. And here’s the kicker: you don’t even need an Internet connection. Between train tunnels, cross-country flights, and long stretches of open road, we all experience dreaded “dead zones” that make it impossible to get anything done. But by marking files in your Dropbox as favorites, you can access them even when Wi-Fi or cellular data signals are scarce. When you mark a file as a favorite on your smartphone or tablet, a few things happen. First, it gets added to the Favorites tab on your device for quick access, similar to a bookmark. (And on iOS, you can even reorder these as needed, so your favorite favorites are at the top of your list.) Second, the entire file gets saved to your device so you can pull it up whenever you want, even with no data signal. Finally, the Dropbox app will frequently check in on that file to see if any changes have been made. If so, we’ll automatically update the file on your device to the most up-to-date version.
