The rise of new productivity tools has changed how people collaborate, but at the cost of reduced transparency and lost time. Whether you’re creating, distributing, or retrieving content, you need a unified home that brings it all together in one place. That’s why we built the new DBX Platform to be the connective tissue for teams and businesses of all sizes. It enables teams to collaborate easily with industry-standard security—even when work spans across tools, apps, devices, and operating systems. Today, we’re introducing a unified suite of APIs and tools, and announcing new integrations with Atlassian, Autodesk, and Microsoft.

Providing a bridge across content silos

More than 75% of teams use the DBX Platform to link to one or more third-party solutions. These connections combine our core sync and collaboration capabilities with the strength and scale of amazing partner applications. To bring individuals and teams even more integrations—on top of existing ones with Adobe, DocuSign, Facebook, Google, Salesforce, Slack, and thousands more—we’re letting you connect Dropbox with three new tools:
  • Atlassian JIRA Software: Access, share, and collaborate on the latest versions of your content from within the popular project management solution
  • Autodesk AutoCAD: Open projects stored in Dropbox directly from the AutoCAD desktop application (coming soon)
  • Microsoft Outlook: Easily share files—big and small—with our add-in for the leading desktop email client (available via our early access program)

Building on a trusted platform for content-based collaboration

Since launching our first API in 2008, Dropbox has enabled over 500,000 developers to build connections to leading applications and tools. With their success, the platform has reached a scale of more than 2 billion API calls per day—and we’re just getting started. To enhance developer capabilities, we quadrupled our API endpoints over the past year. Today, we’re going even further by bringing three more APIs into general availability, for improved usability and consistency in Dropbox API v2:
  • The Metadata API lets developers assign custom metadata labels and values to Dropbox files through their third-party applications.
  • The File Requests API lets developers automate the creation of file requests and embed requests into other workflows. This new endpoint expands a widely used Dropbox feature that allows users to collect files and images from others through a simple link.
  • The Paper API lets developers build Paper integrations directly into third-party applications, with create and edit functionality.
Dropbox is also planning UI and performance enhancements to its Chooser and Saver Drop-ins later this year. And by the end of 2017, we’ll be doubling the size of our ecosystem team, hiring new talent in Engineering, Product, Developer Relations, Marketing, and Business Development to keep the momentum growing.

Customizing solutions for companies of all sizes

We want to improve our ability to adapt to the diverse needs of our customers and partners. So we’ve been developing new tools to empower businesses at every level—from small businesses who want to hit the ground running to large enterprises that need to build end-to-end workflows with customizable APIs.
“Atlassian has a deep history with Dropbox, first integrating with Hipchat, and more recently, our JIRA project management platform. In doing so, we’re thrilled to extend the capabilities of Dropbox with the scale of the Atlassian Marketplace, and bring our customers even greater value.”—Max Mancini, Head of Ecosystem at Atlassian.
With a Dropbox Business plan, you can build entire workflows on top of the DBX Platform to make creation and collaboration effortless for everyone on your team. And to support your deployment, we’re partnering with IT services companies, like DXC Technology, Wipro, and others who offer deep expertise in custom solutions development.
